Salut!
it's funny how i always go on a tirade about updating this blog regularly and well...don't hmmmm ah well here i go:
I love my job! I've been there for a little over a month now but i never thought it could be possible to have cool/young coworkers, a warm workplace, and truly love what you do but i finally have that. I only have God to thank and believe me I'm more than thankful. It's a bit strange for me to be at this point in my life. This "Adult"... i guess that's what i am. However, i still feel like I'm on the cusp of greatness. I honestly never want to get to the point where I'm satisfied because i think once you get to that point, your life is almost pointless. It's like saying "I've reached my peak" and that's just not what I'm about. My heart is always yearning to reach people, to speak my mind, to release that creativity that is constantly trying to bust out, to find the unattainable, to be whoever it is I'm suppose to be. Maybe that's the dreamer in me....
In other news, I'm still actively submerging myself with the French Gang (as they call themselves). My French Meet-up buddy Larissa and I decided to take a walk on the French side and meet up with them for Halloween festivities last weekend. It was literally one of the best times I've had out in awhile, mainly because i met so many diverse, witty and interesting people. Plus the ridiculous costumes helped break the ice. The funny thing about this French group is that every time i go to the meetings there is always a new set of people. I'll meet Lucas and suddenly next week he's not there but Stephen is in his place but then next week in his place will be David and then the next week he won't be there but well i suppose you get the idea. Anyway, the whole point of that intro is we literally saw only two people we knew from the regular Wednesday meetings but we did manage to meet Felix (from Germany), Javier (From Monterrey) and a dude dress up like Aladdin that to be honest, I'm not even sure where he was from and last Pierre who fit the stereotype of Le French Homme. Ironically Pierre was dressed as a prisoner making him the ying to my yang, as i was a jailbird. Felix who i thought was Kevin Federaline which i might add, caused him to furrow his eyebrows in disdain because apparently being called K Fed is oh so not cool was actually Jean Claude Van Dame... yes, i too am still wondering how that's better than K-Fed but I digress. It just goes to show that by hanging out with the "French Gang" I'm actually opening myself up to meeting with all sorts of people and i love that fact. So amongst the intoxicating music, the witty banter and Pierre screaming to Felix "Take off ze jakit, Take off ze jakit!" i was thinking to myself i wouldn't be here a year ago. I would have been too scared and France gave me that ability to overcome that fear. My confidence..... and now we're back to my nostalgia.
I find myself thinking about France often. Her culture and willingness to share it.... Her magnificence, how she never let me down.... but deep down i know we'll be reunited again. It seems a little ridiculous, this obsession i have but maybe that's because i don't considered it an obsession just an expression of who i am. France was one of the many links (a big one) that shaped the woman I am today and i know we'll meet again. The last thing i will leave you with is what happened this past Wednesday at the French Meet-up. There was this woman there, late 30's, pretty and very excited. It was her first time at the meeting, she had just returned from Paris 2 weeks earlier. She fell in love with the city and thought it would be a good idea to start attempting to learn French. She sat next to Larissa and i and marveled at our French speaking skills. Every few minutes she interrupted to ask what this or that meant and readily we provided the answers. I had to take a minute to stop and process what was happening because it was in this moment of pure irony that i realized i was her a year ago. I was this nervous unsure person attempting to conquer a language that was threatening to beat me, asking how to conjugate this and translate that. In this moment i realized that the student had become the teacher and I nearly cried reflecting back on my progression. If you ever think of taking a leap into the darkness, just do it, your heart will thank you later. Merci France.
Bisous,
Hali
